LinkedIn Appoints Deepak Agarwal as Chief AI Officer

LinkedIn, the professional networking giant, has announced the appointment of Deepak Agarwal as its new Chief AI Officer (CAIO). In this role, Agarwal will spearhead artificial intelligence innovations, emphasizing ethical, inclusive and human-centric approaches.

This marks Agarwal’s second tenure at LinkedIn. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Engineering and AI for eight years. During that time, he played a pivotal role in developing large-scale AI innovations that now form the foundation of LinkedIn’s AI capabilities.

Sharing his excitement on LinkedIn, Agarwal wrote, “This is my second stint leading AI at LinkedIn, with my last tour being VP of AI for eight years, where our team developed remarkable innovations at massive scale that serve as the foundation for much of the company’s AI efforts today.”

Agarwal further highlighted LinkedIn’s extensive use of AI to transform professional and business interactions. He remarked, “AI is at the heart of everything we do – from personalizing member experiences to helping them grow their knowledge and access to opportunities, to empowering businesses and fostering meaningful professional relationships.”

As Chief AI Officer, Agarwal aims to push the boundaries of AI innovation while ensuring it remains ethical, empathetic and inclusive. He envisions technology as a tool to create economic opportunities for professionals and enable them to thrive in an AI-driven world.
