YouTube Appointed Gunjan Soni as Country Managing Director for India

YouTube has announced the appointment of Gunjan Soni as its new Country Managing Director for India, a strategic move aimed at strengthening its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets. In her new role, Soni will lead YouTube’s business and operations across the country, reporting directly to Ajay Vidyasagar, Managing Director, YouTube Asia Pacific.

A seasoned business leader with over two decades of experience, Gunjan brings a strong track record in scaling consumer internet platforms and driving digital transformation. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Founding CEO of Zenius, an edtech startup. She has also held senior leadership roles at The Times Group, Myntra, and McKinsey & Company, where she led high-impact initiatives across strategy, brand building, and consumer growth.

India stands as one of YouTube’s largest and most dynamic markets, with a rapidly evolving digital-first audience and a thriving creator ecosystem. Soni’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as the platform deepens its focus on localisation, product innovation, and creator monetisation through formats like YouTube Shorts.
